August 6, 2025Escapade
Dreaming of a foodie road trip surrounded by nature and filled with meaningful encounters? This 7-day RV route to Lac-Saint-Jean is made for you! With Terego, every stop is a unique experience, far beyond just a place to park for the night. This journey to Lac-Saint-Jean is more than an itinerary: it’s a celebration of local flavours, passionate producers, and the breathtaking beauty of Quebec.
Day 1 – Les Couleurs de la Terre
Let's face it, if you're leaving from Montreal, Lac-Saint-Jean isn't exactly next door. For Terego members, that's not a problem at all! It's more of an opportunity to make more overnight discoveries along the way. With more than 50 hosts available on a direct route between Montreal and Lac-Saint-Jean, our members have plenty of choices! (Have you tried the itinerary feature on our mobile app? Check it out here!) We chose to stop about halfway, in the region of Mauricie, at Les Couleurs de la Terre. This family-run farm is a true tribute to Quebec’s terroir. Guy, Patricia, and their six children are thrilled to share their sustainable agriculture practices with Terego members through their farm, restaurant, animals, gardens, and forest trails. Their legendary poutine, made with on-site grown potatoes, homemade sauce and fresh cheese, is a local sensation! While the poutine steals the show, there are plenty of other gems on the menu, which changes with the seasons and the harvest. Les Couleurs de la Terre is a gourmet stop that will delight foodie campers on their way to Lac-Saint-Jean. Terego members can enjoy a peaceful overnight stay in their RVs in complete tranquility.
Day 2 – Domaine d’Oscar
With our heads filled with memories and our bellies filled with poutine, we hit the road again, heading for Saint-André-du-Lac-Saint-Jean. Domaine d’Oscar is a unique agrotourism destination. Located near the Métabetchouane River, this farm offers an authentic experience where local products take centre stage. It's not just a simple overnight stop; it’s an exciting adventure thanks to Oscar's Village! Visit the village, meet the animals, and explore the trails with your explorer's notebook. This notebook contains challenges to complete, clues to find, observation games, and even some well-kept secrets. In the heart of Oscar's village, you will find the general store filled with fresh and processed products. The salsa verde is a team favourite! On summer weekends, you can also reserve a gourmet, locally sourced breakfast made with love. Terego members will enjoy spending the night at Domaine d’Oscar in their RV or trailer.
Day 3 – Verger Api-Pomme
Nestled in the beautiful Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, Verger Api-Pomme welcomes Terego members with warmth in a bucolic setting. Renée and Richard, the owners, invite you to explore the orchard's trails, with over 2,000 apple trees of 15 different varieties, 1,000 raspberry bushes, and more than 1,200 trees and shrubs, all the way to their observation tower. The three-level tower offers a breathtaking view of Lac Saint-Jean and the fruit farm. Take advantage of the rest areas on each floor to fill your lungs with lake air and enjoy discovering the inspiring inscriptions carefully chosen and placed by Richard. Their country store is an ode to the region's know-how and terroir! You'll find their delicious homemade products, as well as several products from neighbouring farms and small businesses (many of which are also Terego hosts!). The bistro is a must visit during your stay. We loved the warm waffles with local cheese and caramelized apples topped with a decadent ''Cara-Miel'' ! Whether you want to stock up on local provisions, discover the local flavours, or simply relax after a day on the road, Verger Api-Pomme is a stop that is as delicious as it is rejuvenating. Terego members can spend the night there in a van or travel trailer surrounded by greenery and fruity aromas.
Day 4 – Ferme Gilbert et Fils
Head towards Saint-Henri-de-Taillon, about 45 minutes from Verger Api-Pomme. This Terego host, located on the shores of the lake, is well worth the detour! Ferme Gilbert et Fils welcomes you to their farm and their herd of 135 lactating cows. You will discover the pinnacle of agricultural innovation, as this is a fully robotized farm with optimized free stabling. This means that the cows are free to move around as they please. They decide for themselves when to eat, drink, walk, sleep, or go to the robot to be milked. After the tour, you can visit the mini-farm where ducks, rabbits, chickens, goats, llamas, and many other animals live. The shop sells products made by local artisans. Members can also spend a relaxing night in a van or camper, picnic on the farm, explore the vegetable gardens, and take a walk in the fields that lead to the magnificent Lac Saint-Jean.
Day 5 – Ferme TournevenT
Located in Hébertville, Ferme TournevenT is a true model of ecological agriculture. This farm specializes in growing organic oilseeds, such as hemp, flax, and camelina, using environmentally friendly methods. The farm boutique offers products you are probably familiar with, such as lentils, garlic flowers, and canola oil, as well as discoveries such as organic roasted buckwheat, pumpkin seed oil, and shelled hemp seeds. The oil museum is the perfect place to see and understand all the work that goes on at TournevenT Farm. You’ll get to taste the full range of cold-pressed oils, from camelina oil to the surprising ginger-infused canola oil, and even basil-flavoured hemp oil. Simon will be happy to share his tips on the best way to enjoy each one. Just minutes from Mont Lac-Vert, it’s the perfect spot for mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. For Terego members, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy an educational, delicious, and relaxing overnight RV stopover.
Day 6 – Domaine Le Cageot
In Saguenay, or more specifically Jonquière, Domaine Le Cageot is a must-visit destination for lovers of local flavours. This family-run business, which has been cultivating passion since 1977, welcomes you for a gourmet experience. On site, discover a wide range of artisanal products: wines and liqueurs made from berries, flavoured vinaigrettes, jams, chocolates, and much more, all made from the riches of the boreal terroir. You can enjoy a guided tasting in the shop, or borrow a tasting guide and do your own tasting in your RV. The delicious raspberry vinaigrette is another Terego Team favourite! Terego members can spend the night in their RV or trailer and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Saguenay countryside after a day of culinary discoveries.
Day 7 – Omerto
Ready or not, it’s time to head back! Just like at the start of this road trip, Terego members have plenty of overnight stop options on the way to Montreal. Nestled in Baie-Saint-Paul, in the heart of the magnificent Charlevoix region, Omerto is a Terego stop that combines local produce, family tradition, and innovation. Here, you will discover a product unique in North America: a wine made from tomatoes. During your visit, let yourself be guided through the fields where the heirloom tomato varieties used to produce this unusual beverage are grown, then enter the world of Omerto through a guided tasting. Each sip tells a story of passion, patience, and creativity. In 2025, Omerto is celebrating its 15th anniversary in style with activities every Thursday until the end of September. Terego members can enjoy the tranquility of the location and spend a peaceful night in an RV, surrounded by nature and the distinctive charm of Charlevoix.
Before or after your visit to Omerto, enjoy a stop at Baie-Saint-Paul Beach, a peaceful spot offering breathtaking views of the river and the Charlevoix mountains. Stroll along the boardwalk, explore the coastal trails, or climb the observation tower to admire the landscape from above. It's the perfect place for a picnic break or a relaxing moment by the water. Then, extend the pleasure by strolling through the village of Baie-Saint-Paul, known for its art galleries, cozy cafés, and charming local shops for a well-rounded end to your journey.
